The course is also suitable for existing cleaning professionals and business owners who would like to expand their knowledge, develop their specialist cleaning skills or introduce additional services to their business.
What is forensic cleaning?
Forensic cleaning involves the specialist cleaning and decontamination of environments where potentially hazardous biological materials may be present.
This may include properties affected by murders, suicides, unattended deaths, accidents and other traumatic incidents.
Forensic cleaners are responsible for removing contamination and helping to restore affected environments to a safe condition. They do not undertake police investigations or collect forensic evidence.
Is forensic cleaning the same as crime scene cleaning?
Forensic cleaning and crime scene cleaning are often used interchangeably within the specialist cleaning industry.
Although both involve specialist cleaning and decontamination, forensic cleaning is not limited to criminal incidents. Forensic cleaners may also attend properties following unattended deaths, suicides and other traumatic situations where biological contamination is present.
Completion requirements
If you are taking part in our 3-Day or 4-Day Trauma & Biohazard Cleaning Course, you will complete a multiple-choice assessment after each of the five training modules.
You must achieve a pass rate of at least 80% on each assessment to successfully complete the theoretical training.
Is this course online or face to face?
Here at The National Academy of Specialist Cleaners, we only offer face-to-face training.
We believe face-to-face training is particularly beneficial within the specialist cleaning industry, as delegates have the opportunity to learn directly from experienced trauma and biohazard cleaning professionals.
During the course, you will be introduced to specialist cleaning chemicals, PPE, RPE and equipment, alongside demonstrations and discussions about real-life scenarios that may be encountered within the industry.
Delegates attending our 4-Day Trauma & Biohazard Cleaning Course will also have the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice within our purpose-built practical training facility.

You will receive guidance and support from experienced trauma and biohazard cleaning professionals, helping you develop an understanding of how to approach specialist cleaning tasks safely and professionally.
For larger groups of 6–12 delegates, we may also be able to deliver the classroom-based training at your premises, provided suitable facilities are available.
